Waimana Chapel by Wilson & Hill Architects

A Chapel set in an open rural park like setting that the people from North Canterbury could relate to and feel comfortable in a time of grief has been requested by Lamb & Hayward to Wilson & Hill Architects.

The building contains a large chapel to seat 200, a small chapel to seat 30 and lounge with serving kitchen to cater for functions on site following a service. Offices, staff room, garaging for hearses, a small mortuary and other service type rooms are also included.

The three types of precast concrete panels used, polished panels, natural concrete’ banded panels with grit blasted finish and painted panels form a hierarchy within the building and evoke the feelings of quality and permanence that Lamb & Hayward represent.
