Modern Home Design in La Jolla, California by Public Architects

This house was designed by Public Architects and located in La Jolla, California. A small one story bungalow sat on a substandard lot between two nondescript condominiums. Within that small house lived a growing family with a modern aesthetic who wanted to take advantage of the ocean views their site offered while adding square footage.

The house has a concrete base that rises out of the ground with a minimal amount of openings until the second story, where it turns into a steel frame with a glass window wall that offers a panoramic view out to the Pacific Ocean.

Limes Hotel by in Alexander Lotersztain

Designed by award-winning designer, Alexander Lotersztain, the first Australian member of Design Hotels. The limes hotel located in Fortitude Valley, the hub of Brisbane’s nightlife, also known for its trendy cafes, shops, bars and restaurants, in keeping with this vibrant neighbourhood, Limes has been created to include a completely open air roof top bar and roof top cinema (in hibernation until Spring).

This cool limes hotel was opened June 27 in Brisbane. With only 21 rooms, the hotel is intimate and friendly, and features a rooftop bar and cinema. Drawing inspiration from a lifetime of international travel, with countless hours spent in aeroplanes and hotel rooms, Alexander concentrated his design focus on the 21 rooms to cater for the independent traveller, rejecting the 5-star norms and opting to focus on guests’ primary travel requirements through unique design solutions in styled lodgings.

“The Limes concept is an emphasis on the essentials to make a pleasing and at times novel experience, whether staying for a night, a drink, a movie or all of the above,” Alexander said.

“Attention to detail is reflected in my design choices, which are understated yet buzzing with the contemporary energy of Brisbane and the Valley surrounds,” Alexander said.

One of my favorite pieces is this shelf unit called Domino, I’m sure it is named that because it looks like domino card. It can be used not only against a wall as a shelf, but as you can see from the picture it can also be used as a room divider and can create a great focal point in a room that may be without one. This shelf comes in White, wenge and chocolate colors.

If you live in US, you can now order online a growing collection from their catalog. Get their latest modern and unique furniture and stay tune for promotions and discounts at http://www.temahome.com. Have a nice online shopping
